Clinical Application Support Specialist, Electronic Health Record (EHR) Required, Chicago, IL
The Clinical Application Support Specialist will provide oversight, support, troubleshooting and technical administration of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), Provider Management Systems (PMS) and grant- supporting applications. The Clinical Application Support Specialist will offer day-to-day support to clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure proper usage of system resources. The Clinical Application Support Specialist is an integral resource to the company’s super-user group. A valid driver’s license is required for this position. This company has multiple clinics all in North Chicago and within 30 minutes of each other. Travel varies day by day depending on which clinics need assistance. Must be located in Chicago and willing to travel between 16 clinics in North Chicago.
Clinical Application Support Specialist Responsibilities:
– Provide technical support for issues related to clinical support applications including the PMS’s, EHR’s, and grant supporting applications during clinic hours and within the on-call schedule.
– Assist in first-level application technical support in investigating and resolving issues related to the EHRs, interfaces, patient portal, and other clinical applications.
– Direct the EHR’s clinical application users including user account maintenance.
– Respond to staff inquiries concerning systems operation, diagnosing system hardware, software, and operator problems via Help Desk System.
– Provide users with instruction in use of equipment, software, and manuals as related to PMSs, EHRs, clinical, and grant-supporting applications.
– Assist in implementing EHR downtime procedures, configuration, maintenance, and the expansion of the system to other locations.
– Coordinate EHR activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
– Regularly communicate and/or update Manager on operational and systems issues/changes and status or escalation needs. Frequently communicate with external Information Technology (IT) contractors to ensure all escalated issues are addressed in a timely fashion, including internal system upgrades and clinical applications issues.
– Maintain and track Tapestry-provided equipment, including managing loaner devices and coordinating the shipment of devices for repair.
– Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel between all 16 health center locations as needed.
– Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
– Participate in ongoing learning and professional development to stay current with evolving technologies, systems, and best practices relevant to the role.
– May be required to work after hours or on weekends to support special projects or system implementations.
Clinical Application Support Specialist Qualifications:
– Minimum of 2 years of experience in a project-based environment, healthcare IT applications, or customer service; experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
– Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, particularly AthenaOne or Athena Practice.
– Proficiency in MS Office applications and Windows operating systems.
– Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated public speaking ability and effective interpersonal skills.
– Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in health IT systems and practices.
– Valid driver’s license required.
