Systems Developer

$80-$100K

Note that some travel may be necessary.

The successful candidate will be required to work in a structured environment and at all stages of the development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and specifications, into coding, and through to assisting with testing and implementation.

Responsibilities:
-Functional (user) specifications
-Detailed technical specifications
-Program code, which will be subjected to code reviews by the Technical Architect. Code will also be subjected to automated testing tools.
-Ensure code is tested according to user requirements and technical specification
-Ensure code is produced according to agreed standards.
-Ensure code is designed with a view to future awareness
-Unit test plans
-System test plans
-Accurate estimates for work assigned

Mandatory Qualifications:
-Excellent knowledge of Asp.net (C#), HTML, XML and JavaScript
-SQL (MS SQL Server preferred but not essential). Stored procedures, triggers, indexes.
-Database design and understanding of relational database principles.
-Solid commercial experience of the full development life cycle, in particular of C# web applications. Knowledge of SCRUM would be advantageous.
-Experience of working successfully with end users.To be able to understand and translate business requirements into the design and development of excellent technical solutions.
-Ability to recognise system deficiencies and to propose and implement effective solutions.
-Ability to identify the scope of an area of development work, to recognize and understand the potential impact on other areas and to give accurate time estimates.
-Excellent knowledge of web deployment, including security, hosting and performance issues.
-Dynamic, flexible and with a passion for delivering quality work.
-Ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
-Ability and desire to take ownership of large areas of work when required.
-Willingness and desire to learn about all relevant business areas.
-Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
-Ability to effectively review and give feedback on coding standards to other team members.
-Ability to work with other teams and specialists, including Nexus / BASIL (core systems) teams, DBA, Test Team
-Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to explain technical concepts in non technical terms.
-Ability to Communicate with key stakeholders and provide regular updates (written and verbal) to project manager(s).
- The successful candidate will be expected to show an interest in, and knowledge of, industry-standard good practice in software production.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-Knowledge of/exposure to nhibernate or similar, Infragistics, SQL Source Control, Subversion or other source code control.

-Database Administration, particularly performance issues.
-Good working knowledge of source control systems.
-Knowledge of testing tools and techniques, particularly in relation to C# web applications.
-Insurance industry experience:
