Software Developer / Programmer - Distributed Systems

Join a talented team working on developing applications supporting electronic brokerage business. Successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to think, code, generate ideas and the desire to expand his/her technical horizons.

Responsibilities:
-Develop new and enhance existing proprietary multi-platform distributed applications (including low-latency middleware and web-based components).
-Work with development and support teams globally to on new requirements and issue trouble-shooting
-Proactive research into new technologies and their suitability to solving business problems.

Mandatory Qualifications:
-Very strong hands-on C++ developer with “under the hood” understanding of C++ on Solaris/Linux.
-Solid understanding of multi-threaded high-performance server-side development on Solaris/Linux.
-Hands-on experience with server side core Java or C# (but Java is preferred). Should be comfortable with either of these technologies, but not necessarily an expert.
-Basic knowledge of any RDBMS/SQL (Sybase/Transact SQL in particular).
-Good investigative and problem solving skills
-Willingness to learn and use unfamiliar technologies, when required by the task at hand
-Good communication skills and personality – must be able to articulate thoughts in writing and verbally and maintain productive relationships with colleagues.

Optional Qualifications:
-Some experience with server side C++ development in Windows and understanding of Windows multithreading is a plus.
-Experience with messaging middleware (IBM MQ preferred).
-Unix and/or Windows Scripting
-Basic familiarity with ASP.NET, VB Script. Java Script and web technologies
-Prior experience with fixed income or equities front office development a plus.
