Lab & QA Manager - Will relocate
Will relocate the right candidate.
The position is hardware and Infrastructure
related, not software.
The Lab and QA Manager is directly responsible
for the planning, build out and day-to-day management
of the engineering lab where new technologies
are developed, integrated and tested. Also responsible
for ensuring the overall quality of IT products
being engineered.
The Lab Manager is responsible for the operation
and forward looking growth strategy (financing,
processing, hiring, finding necessary equipment,
etc.) of the lab. This person will concentrate
on high-level lab related duties such as establishing
policies for the execution of the work within
the lab and management and coordination of such
activities. In addition, the Lab and QA manager
will establish quality standards, methods to
verify and test quality, and work with the engineering
teams on an ongoing basis to implement quality
and testing programs.
A successful Lab & QA Manager can take
a high level goal and run with it while managing
and executing on tasks. We are looking for a
“team player” who will be able to
manage the numerous projects hitting the lab
as we embark upon integrating technologies.
Responsibilities:
-Working closely with the Operations Team to
ensure that solutions being engineered in the
lab will be operable
-Gathering/Documenting business and technical
requirements of the lab
-Maintaining a deep understanding of technology
solutions (both deployed and future)
-Keeping up to date on industry trends
-Creating architectural guidelines and principles
for the lab environment as well as policies
and processes for the projects’ use of
the lab
-Maintaining relationships with key vendors
-Determining hardware and software components
to meet Lab Requirements
-Ensure deployment of new technology solutions
has been appropriately tested and is providing
services which are at least “at the bar”
from a quality perspective
-Ensure quality of new technology solutions
is in line with “business” and operational
needs, through the definition, verification
and execution of QA Processes, Production readiness
testing, Operational readiness testing
-Ensure that engineering solutions are reliable,
secure and efficient, through Quality Assurance
of engineering builds, including: Shakedown
/ Stress-test, Functional Testing Integration
testing Documentation QA
Qualifications:
-At least 10 years of experience in relevant
infrastructure technologies, including experience
leading complex initiatives
-Quality focus: individual needs to be able
to systematically test and keep a quality eye
on a series of work products coming from Engineering
-Experience with SDLC-type of practices namely
testing methods including: unit testing, integration
testing, regression testing, stress/performance
testing, destructive testing, and ability to
define when these methods and practices are
relevant
-Strong Quality documentation experience: the
individual will need to ability to create technical
documentation standards to ensure quality delivery,
and will need a keen eye to review these documents
as provided by the project teams
-Operational experience, namely the ability
to think about what “could break”
once a product is in operations, and can devise
means to test these types of circumstances
-Experience designing and implementing lab set-ups
with deep knowledge of hardware and platforms
currently in use and to-be-used within Company
-Extensive experience managing highly volatile
technical environments including labs
-Hands-on knowledge of key operating system
environments including MS Windows, Red Hat Linux
and VMware
-Must be able to work well in an ambiguous and
changing environment
-Ability to screen, interview, evaluate and
recommend new hires
-Open to giving and receiving direct criticism
in an environment where people are encouraged
to challenge and criticize management of all
levels
