Up to 20% travel.

This position is responsible for providing the 7 x 24 x 365 technical support and database systems operations of all Software Solutions.

Database System Operations:
-Oversee the 7 x 24 x 365 delivery of operational support services through telephone, email, web, and on-site for the software products and related technical environment
-Perform database administration and maintenance functions in support of Production, QA, Support and Development environments.
-Define and maintain all daily, weekly, monthly and annual tasks required to maintain database health and performance.
-Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
-Providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
-Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to change control procedures
-Work with Development and Support teams to make recommendations and implement changes
-Ensure consistent and complete database backups
-Assist team members with daily database activities including backing up and restoring databases.
-Oversee Performance tuning and optimization as required
-Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records

Customer Support:
-Ensure pro-active and re-active timely and quality response to all customer issues.
-Open, monitor, and track every support contact to ensure appropriate reporting of all issues.
-Keep time to close within documented Service Level Agreements.
-Troubleshoot server and database operational issues, installation issues, and technical issues as reported by both internal and external customers.
-Escalate unresolved issues as documented in processes and procedures, maintain ownership of issues through resolution and provide updates to management on critical issues.
-Preserve the confidentiality and security of all customer data

Quality Assurance and Testing:
-Test and perform Change Management Request scripts as needed
-Identify and document installation, configuration, and application defects
-Perform test changes to SQL servers and databases in a back office environment
-Perform test application upgrade procedures
-Ensure a high quality deliverable of product

Special Projects:
-Perform special project that are required to meet corporate and department objectives
-Conduct research on software and utilities to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience of 3+ years in the IT field)
-Minimum 2 years hands-on experience managing Microsoft SQL 2005/2008 database systems in enterprise level three tiered application environment or 3+ years of extensive experience in managing production SQL Server databases in a high-volume, rapid-growth environment
-Experience with database technologies in high-volume transactional websites
-Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and/or 2008 and Microsoft Clustering technologies
-Expert knowledge of database recovery models including Mirroring, Clustering and Log Shipping
-Expert knowledge of database troubleshooting and performance tuning.
-Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2003 Sever and Storage Area Networks
-Strong knowledge of logical and physical database design
-Strong knowledge of database backup/restore methodologies
-Knowledge of web technologies including IIS, Apache, .Net and HTML
-Knowledge of routing and firewall technologies
-Knowledge of security technologies including system lockdown procedures and SSL
-Knowledge of network communication methods and protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP and SNMP
-Knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware ESX Server
-Ability to develop trend and analysis reports indicating database growth and load to anticipate storage, CPU and memory needs;
-Ability to develop maintenance programs and scripts; migrate databases as necessary; tune SQL and initialization parameters
-Ability to provide stored procedures and scripts to facilitate best practices database use
-Ability to effectively plan and schedule assignments as well as meet stringent deadlines
-Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and effectively use time and resources to accomplish group operations.
-Ability to research new products, tools, methodologies, and standards related to all aspects of the database environment and its security, and make recommendations
-Analytical problem solver with the ability to use conventional and unconventional methods for problem identification and resolution
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Keen attention to detail
-Must be self-motivated, team player

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MSDBA)
-24 x 7 On-call rotation availability for emergency support
-Occasional evening and weekend work to perform maintenance and upgrades
-May need to travel to Alternate and Production Hosting Facilities
