Windows Systems Engineer - Chicago, IL

Will only consider candidates with Citrix certification(s).

Provides day-to-day support and maintenance of server based hardware, operating systems, applications (TT, AD, Exchange, Citrix, etc.) and various infrastructure software. Other responsibilities will include troubleshooting business critical incidents, working with Traders, Support Center and Technology staff. You should stay abreast of current and new technology as it relates to the role. In addition, you will assist with testing and QA of software to ensure a high quality of service. The right person for this role must be customer focused, proactive, accept ownership and have a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities:
-Assists in the daily and pro-active maintenance of Windows infrastructure environment.
-Assists in the daily monitoring of servers/systems and respond quickly to alerts.
-Validate servers have proper monitoring and thresholds are setup correctly.
-Must validate backups can be retrieved and restored for the systems they support.
-Follow strict Change Management policies regarding production changes.
-Must take part in strategic and tactical weekly meetings as necessary.
-Citrix – must be certified and experienced in supporting non-Citrix certified software, including internally developed applications. CCA at a minimum, CCAA, CCEE or CCIA preferred.

-Trading Technologies (TT)
-While on-call, carry a laptop and Blackberry/Cell phone.
-Do proper escalation procedures as defined by management.
-Rotate on an on-call schedule with co-workers.

Requirements:
-Citrix Certification a requirement
-Strong organization and communication skills; must clearly communicate Windows related technical issues with customer/clients and management.
-In depth understanding of Operating Systems including how they interact and utilize hardware platforms.
-5+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience supporting Enterprise Class Servers in a heterogeneous environment.
-Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP.
-Skilled in troubleshooting in high pressure, production environments.
-Event log monitoring and data center operational understanding.
-MCSE Certification preferred.
-Programming skills in at least one of the following: PowerShell, VB, Perl, WMI, ADSI, or Batch.
-Other technical certifications are a plus.
-Bachelor’s degree is required.
-Previous trading environment experience preferred or equivalent high speed, high-pressure environments a plus.
-Must be able to think quickly and outside the box.
-Must be accustomed to responding quickly and in a controlled manner to emergencies.
