Job Description:
Be a hands-on member of the development and production team. Looking for someone with advanced system and network knowledge, including an extensive Linux/Unix background. Knowledge of Microsoft and Mac platforms are a plus. Should be experienced in capacity planning as well as hardware recommendation and selection. Be the 24x7 on-call person when a systems issue develops. Need to have strong interpersonal and communications skills to be able to communicate technical issues with co-workers, clients and management in an understandable manner.

Requirements
The work responsibilities of this individual will include:
• Designing/implementing complex local and wide-area networks of machines.
• Managing a large, complex site or network.
• Security
• 24x7 hardware/software monitoring
• Data backup and archival
• Recommending policies on system use and services.
• Providing technical lead and/or supervises system administrators
• Producing and maintaining office and datacenter infrastructure documentation
• Maintaining office infrastructure
• Administering email server/ spam gateway appliance
• Backups
• Administering development and file servers
• VPN
• Providing printer and desktop support (windows/mac osx)
• Maintaining datacenter infrastructure
• Server/firewall/network monitoring and maintenance (nagios/snmp)
• Backups
• Service administration
• SAN
• Administering server and development software tools including apache and related modules, Jrun/ColdFusion server and Subversion

Additional requirements include:

• Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
• Thorough understanding of and experience with
o application stacks
o networking
o distributed computing environments
o client/server programming
o the design of consistent network-wide filesystem layouts
o Apache, postfix, sendmail, LDAP
• Ability to program, at least in an administrative capacity (shell scripts, perl, etc.)
• 5-7 years of previous system administration experience.
• A degree in computer science or a related field.
• Extensive programming background in any applicable language.
