Basic Function: Provide technical support during network test exercises, actual disaster recoveries and in support of production services. This includes all levels of problem determination and resolution using various diagnostic monitoring tools and equipment, and service provider resources to successful completion.
Lead your team as a technical mentor in both transport technology and monitoring capabilities.
- Perform reviews of staff and initiate any corrective action as needed.
- Support monitoring team on triaging alarms on both network and systems.
- Provide networking team with layer 1 and 2 support on Cisco routers.
- Coordinate with network service providers to resolve outages and initial activation.
- Provision network resources for internal/external customers to fulfill their communication needs via network management tools, and systems.


- Provide world-class customer support and technical expertise for customer networks.
- Provide network engineering/diagnostic support to internal/external customers, during network test exercises, actual disaster recoveries and in support of production services. This includes all levels of problem determination and resolution using various diagnostic equipment, and service provider resources to successful completion.
- Coordinate with network service providers to resolve outages and initial activation.
- Provision network resources for internal/external customers to fulfill their communication needs via network management tools, and
systems.
- Escalate problems to internal organizations and external vendors as
required.


- Working knowledge in activating, provisioning, and troubleshooting
DWDM, SONET, T3, T1/Frac-T1 and frame relay/IP networks.
- Strong network troubleshooting skills are required.
- Working knowledge of SONET and DCS (T1, T3), CSU/DSUs, DWDM,
TDMs, fiber optics, routers, and switches is desirable.
- Working knowledge of network transition language (TL1) is
required.

Qualifications : Must Requirements (including any physical
requirements):

- College degree or equivalent work related experience with a minimum
of H.S Diploma or GED required.
- Three to Five years experience in a Network control/management
center or Central office environment. B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
or Computer Science is highly desirable.
- Experience in a lead or Sr. technical role within the
telecommunications arena.
- Working knowledge in activating, provisioning, and troubleshooting
DWDM, SONET, T3, T1/Frac-T1 and frame relay/IP networks.
- Strong network troubleshooting skills are required.
- Working knowledge of SONET and DCS (T1, T3), CSU/DSUs, DWDM,
TDMs, fiber optics, routers, and switches is desirable.
- Working knowledge of network transition language (TL1) is required.
- Strong customer service and communications skills (written and
oral) are required.
- Experience with a variety of switch & router hardware, carrier
services, network services, network management, network termination
equipment and associated diagnostic equipment.
- Technical knowledge & experience with various network protocols are
required.
- Must have the ability to lead and direct vendors to assist them in
their efforts.
- Knowledge & experience with PC LAN protocols and connectivity.
- Excellent communications skills (written and oral) are required.
- Strong time management and organizational skill are required.
- Must have the ability to effectively work in a team environment, as
well as independently.
- Shift work is required. Proven leadership skills in a fast paced
work environment is required.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities is required.
