Sr Network Architect
Schaumburg, IL
Up to $80-97K
Responsibilities:
-Responsible for product planning throughout
the product lifecycle, including: gathering
and prioritizing product and customer requirements,
defining the product vision, and working closely
with engineering, sales, marketing and support
to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction
goals are met.
-Design and develop innovative voice and data
network solutions and use cases for sets of
network products and services to meet customer’s
needs.
-Work closely with consultants, product and
marketing managers, network engineers, system
engineers, and voice engineers.
-Responsible for the development of standard
and custom network products ensuring that the
product supports the company's overall strategy
and goals.
-Define the product strategy and roadmap
-Work with external third parties to assess
partnerships
-Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage
products and samples
-Act as a leader within the company
-Business Requirements Collection & Analysis
-Technical Communications and Consulting
-Monitoring the development of new standards
with TCP/IP and voice network technologies.
-Analyze business and market needs and translate
them into clear, actionable product and service
architectural requirements
-Work with business and product leaders to understand
business requirements and help them understand
how technology tradeoffs influence strategy
-Partner with Product Management to complete
business cases for strategic concepts that will
become products and services
-Operate as lead architect within a team of
technical leads, each with individual specializations,
to create a coherent and advanced architecture
and offering
-Translate internal and external feedback and
field research findings into product and service
design improvements
Qualifications:
-Undergraduate degree in Information Technology,
Computer Science, Engineering, or a related
field preferred but will consider applicants
with equivalent work-related experience with
a minimum educational requirement of a H.S.
Diploma or GED equivalent
-Excellent written and verbal communication
skills
-Excellent teamwork skills
-Proven ability to influence cross-functional
teams without formal authority
-5 to 8 years experience with large enterprise
networks or service provider networks
-Proven ability to create and maintain complex
network architectures and designs.
-Working knowledge of IP network design and
routing architectures.
-Working knowledge of VoIP network design and
routing architectures.
-Ability to work in a team environment as well
as independently.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-ITIL v3 Training and certifications are a plus
-Experience with network solution cost structures
and pricing of network solutions.
-Knowledge in Utility or Cloud Computing concepts
and design
-IPv6 Network design and migration experience.
-Knowledge of layer-3 network design and routing
protocols including BGP and OSPF.
-Knowledge of layer-2 network design and protocols
including frame-relay, ATM, Ethernet, DWDM,
and SONET.
-Knowledge of VoIP network architecture and
design
-Knowledge of SIP architecture and design; SIP
proxies, and Session Border Controllers
-Experience with carrier CoS / QoS services
and Cisco or Junipers routers CoS / QoS policy
configuration.
-Basic knowledge of operating systems including
Windows, Unix, and Linx
