Database Administrator - Oracle
Up to $85K
In this position, the individual will play
a major role in design, install, create, document,
monitor, enhance, test, maintain and implement
databases and database modifications along with
the associated applications. He/She will assist
in the development, support and administration
of all application systems, Production, Test
and Dev. He/She troubleshoots problems with
production databases and applications for which
he/she is responsible. He/She is expected to
react quickly to production problems. He/She
will participate in support and maintenance
projects as a team member with staff from within
the IT Operations department and from external
departments or vendors. The ideal candidate
should have a solid base understanding of database
concepts and technologies, experience in administering
Oracle databases and willingness to expand the
depth of their technical skills.
Responsibilities:
-Perform general database administration duties.
This includes database cloning, upgrades, migrations,
patching, storage management & performance
tuning.
-Implements custom application code changes
to production and test systems based on submitted
Change Management Requests.
-Responsible for maintenance of database backups
& recovery.
-Provide Custom ETL development or Commercial
Off the Shelf products (Informatica) Support
-Provides production support on assigned systems
(7 X 24) Excellent trouble shooting skills (including
proactive and reactive)
-Trouble shooting & proactive approach to
identify and make recommendations to database
performance issues
-In-depth knowledge of Oracle RDBMS with Linux
& Unix (Windows) as OS
-Research and recommend optimal database design
criteria
-Publish standards and work effectively with
Development, Application & Support Teams
in designing schemas, tuning SQL and improving
application logic.
-Create and maintain documentation for DBA tasks
-Create, develop, review and support the physical
model and logical model
-Should be proficient in Scripting SQL, PL/SQL
programs, Shell scripts and Perl programs
-Implement and maintain database security (create
and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
-Research new technology associated with database
administration/ETL and make recommendations
-Standardize environment & Improve standards
and procedures that support the company’s
database environment needs.

-Optimized database environments
-Stable and secure database environment
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
-3-5 years of experience
-Oracle 10g & 11g, Oracle grid control,
Linux, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripting, Perl
-3-5 years experience as a DBA in Oracle environments
and in-depth experience in administration, programming,
performance tuning and support of RDBMS in one
or more computing environments
-2-4 years experience in supporting Informatica
Power Center
-Excellent interpersonal skills (both written
and verbal)
-Demonstrated experience working well with customers
of varying levels of technical expertise in
high-pressure situations and complex environments
-Must be good team player
-Able and willing to be flexible in adapting
to new technologies, processes and standards
-Technically enthusiastic and willing to learn
attitude is required
-Able to provide 7x24 support
-Masters degree is desired
-Oracle database 10g Certification desired
-Ability to work unsupervised in a multi-task
environment
-2-4 years experience in supporting Oracle Financials
