Managed Services Specialist
Rosemont, IL
Up to $140K +comp plan
50% travel.
Responsibilities:
-Provide presales support in the assigned region
to regional sales engineers and sales reps for
the Managed Services segment of business. This
includes hosting of customer’s production
critical environments and the various services
that revolve around that segment of the business;
monitoring, application support, etc.
-Deliver technical presentations of service
offerings to new and existing customers.
- Gather technical information on the customers
IT environment. Including but not limited to
data center operations, hardware and operating
systems, networking infrastructure, backup processes
and applications.
-Engage customers to extract critical technical
and business drivers that may position deliverables.
-Engineer detailed and/or complex solutions
for Managed Services.
-Prioritize and manage to the regional sales
opportunities and goals.
-Maintain familiarity and adherence to all Company’s
methods and procedures.
-Consistently manage all support requests to
a timely and successful completion.
-Provide tier II support to sales engineers;
including assisting with the creation of customized
or out of the box solutions.
-Provide technical support for new product development.
-Deliver technical product training to sales
engineers and other subject matter experts.
Qualifications:
-College degree preferred but will consider
applicants with equivalent work-related experience
with a minimum educational requirement of a
H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.
-Prefer degree in Computer Science, Engineering
or work experience equivalent
-Significant experience in Managed Services
-5 to 7 years of technical services support
or pre-sales support experience.
-5 to 7 years of managed hosting services or
networking experience.
-“Creditworthiness" and ability to
use a personal credit card for all reimbursable
expenses is required
-Excellent PC skills and common business applications.
( MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio)
-Detailed knowledge of Information Technology
to include data center infrastructures, data
backup and recovery concepts and technologies.
-General business operations knowledge
Technical skills minimum requirements:
-TCP/IP networking basics
-Data center operations basics including; power,
HVAC, fire suppression, security
-Windows and UNIX OS basics
-General web technology basics
-LAN switching, routing and security basics
-WAN technology basics
-Backup methodology and technology basics
-Storage basics
-Basic understanding of high availability methods,
protocols and designs
Other skills:
In addition to the above required skills, all
successful candidates must possess extensive
knowledge and demonstrated ability in at least
five of the areas described below:
-Managed Hosting Services, technologies and
concepts.
-Data replication and data mirroring technologies
and processes.
-Networking and telecommunication technologies
and concepts.
-LAN switching, routing and security.
-Network security methods, appliances and systems.
-SAN, NAS and DASD installation, configuration
and management
-System components and usage.
-Operating systems installation, configuration
and management
-Web, database, middleware, email or ERP application
installation, configuration and management
-Consulting and Technical Services.
