Linux Systems Engineer / Automation Engineer
$110-$225K
Looking for a senior level Linux system administrator,
engineer, architect, and system automation developer
to enhance a global Linux server team. To qualify,
the candidate must be able to interact with
senior level peers in the Network, Storage,
Windows, and Technical Architecture groups.
The ideal candidate will have a solid Linux
system administration background and be able
to use development skills in Perl and Shell
to expand an already mature Linux environment.
Qualifications:
-Extensive experience with Linux, preferably
Red Hat.
-Knowledge of Linux software development tools,
like compilers, debuggers, memory profilers
and how they are used in a RHEL environment.
-Detailed understanding of IP and Ethernet networking
concepts and how they are implemented and operate
in a Linux environment.
-Experience configuring, supporting and troubleshooting
network-related issues in a Linux environment.
-Ability to configure and maintain NFS, SMTP,
LDAP and autofs subsystems.
-Skilled with Linux performance measuring and
tuning tools like top, ntop, sa, psacct and
oprofile, as well as commercial systems.
-Experience working with Network and Storage
teams.
-Experience in automating all aspects of Linux
system administration including mass server
buildouts; server surveys, inventory, and asset
management; patch management.
-Senior level Perl programming experience including
object-oriented concepts.
-Linux troubleshooting experience.
-Solid experience with Veritas products: VCS,
VxVM, VxFS, helpful.
-VmWare; Understanding of VmWare Concepts (Virtual
Center, ESX Host, Virtual Machines) and the
ability to access Virtual Machines through Virtual
Center.
-HP Blade Systems - Understanding of HP Onboard
Administrator, HP C3000, HP C7000 Hardware,
BL460 Blades, BL685 Blades, etc.
-HP DL series server experience helpful.
-Basic Windows administration knowledge helpful.
-Basic understanding of SAN and NAS storage.
-CFengine and/or Puppet experience helpful.
-Minimum 5 years working in a competitive, performance
driven industry.
-Excellent written and verbal communication
skills.
-Experience working in fast paced, aggressive
companies.
-Strong entrepreneurial spirit.
-Ability to work with people in various organizations.
-Able to accommodate a flexible work schedule
and an on-call environment.
