The Linux Systems Administrator will be involved
with all aspects of open systems support and
management. This includes platform wide and
individual systems planning, configuration,
support, management, optimization and troubleshooting.
The individual will be responsible for providing
operational production support, day-to-day administration
and maintenance, and long-term solutions engineering.
The individual will work closely with Infrastructure
teams, Development, Trading Systems Managers,
and Applications Support personnel in a fast-paced
team-oriented environment, to provide non-stop,
high-performance, high-availability and low
latency trading systems.
Responsibilities:
-Day-to-day monitoring, management, and maintenance
of Linux servers.
-Coordinate and perform Linux server upgrades.
-Work with development staff to troubleshoot
and improve trading systems software.
-Troubleshoot systems and network performance
issues including multicast and latency issues.
-Support development and production users.
-High frequency, low latency performance analysis.
Qualifications:
-Linux Server Administration experience.
-System performance analysis, tuning and troubleshooting
experience, including network, system and hardware
optimization for low latency.
-Strong scripting abilities using Perl, Python,
and/or bash/ksh.
-Understanding of Linux kernel tuning and operating
system semantics. Real-time kernel experience
a plus.
-High Availability, clustering, failover, and
load balancing experience. VCS, piranha, F5,
or GSLB/GTM and VIP/LTM experience a plus.
-Virtualization experience including VmWare
vSphere or ESX server and/or SAN experience
a plus.
-Software experience with Apache, Nagios, bcfg2,
Sendmail/Postfix, LDAP or Active Directory,
Centrify, OpenSSH, Kerberos. Databases familiarity.
-Ability to work well with customers in a cross-team
environment.
-Strong planning and organizational skills,
with the ability to document processes and procedures.
