Systems Administrator – Linux
Up to $80K
Responsibilities:
-Member of a small team responsible for maintaining
the infrastructure used by quantitative researchers
for statistical analysis.
-Provide first level support for data archives
and computer infrastructure. This infrastructure
is evolving quickly, and you will work with
all of the impacted parties to ensure that these
evolutions occur with minimal impact to production
usage and support the environment at a world-class
level.
-Manage applications which capture market data
and prepare the data for consumption by archive
clients.
-Manage the day-to-day operation of grid infrastructure.
-Verify the integrity of the archived data and
resolve data integrity issues.
-Act as a primary support contact for Quant
users for archive and grid issues and concerns.
-Maintain grid and archive usage and chargeback
reporting systems.
Qualifications:
-2+ years Unix/Linux system administration experience.
-A strong understanding of basic Linux conventions
and usage.
-Networked filesystems (i.e. NFS).
-Compiling, installing, troubleshooting Linux
software packages (Apache, MySQL, etc.).
-IP Networking in a Linux environment.
-2+ years scripting experience in either Perl
or Python (Python is preferred).
-2+ years C++ programming experience.
-Experience with grid computing, data archiving
and systems monitoring desired.
-Experience with electronic trading systems
desired.
-JavaScript scripting experience.
-System performance tuning and application monitoring
experience desired.
-Experience in grid computing, data archiving
and systems monitoring desired.
-Ability to manage applications and processes
in a distributed and clustered environment.
-Demonstrated troubleshooting experience.
-Keen eye for process and automation improvements
and ability to discern issue patterns with performance,
reliability, or data integrity.
-Ability to exercise appropriate judgment when
managing system incidents, including communicating
with users and technicians and taking decisive
action.
-Demonstrated drive and persistence to get to
the bottom of an issue or to complete a task
when confronted with obstacles.
-Team player and ability to work in a fast-paced
environment.
-Ability to participate in on-call rotation.
-Excellent communication and documentation skills.
