Responsibilities : SHIFT (MON-FRI): 8am-5pm
• Dedication to providing world class
customer service.
• Act as Tier 2 escalation support to
solve product and services problems in the data
centers and on customer’s hosts.
• Monitor daily health of the TSM server
environment.
• React and respond to day to day problems
and changes related to storage administration,
including but not limited to: Disk space, Data
Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Tivoli
Storage Manager (TSM) backup failures.
• Develop and maintain departmental processes
and documentation.
• Perform tape backup installations, provisioning,
troubleshooting and decommissioning.
• Utilize Remedy for Problem Management
and Change and Task Management.
• Provide sales support as directed.
• Provide immediate escalation of critical
client problems that may become serious service
delivery issues or may be reported to executive
management.
• Work with the Engineering group to help
develop and test new technology and solutions.
• Participate in multiple projects and
shifting workloads.
• Participate on projects providing technical
expertise for the success of the project.
• Utilize the change review process and
tools as required by each project task.
• Attend Design Review meetings to analyze
prospective client system design.
• Provide post-implementation support.
• Provide education to others in the department
and company.
• Train/mentor junior staff members as
appropriate.
Qualifications :
• BS in Computer Science, equivalent Technical
School training or equivalent work experience
that includes appropriate training courses.
• 3-5 years experience providing storage
administration services to clients.
AIX, Microsoft or TSM Certification.
• Experience with installation, maintenance,
and general support of TSM servers and clients
and related software products.
• Demonstrated in depth knowledge of job
specific storage technology (TSM or HSM etc).
• Experience with tape library storage
solutions.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills
in order to work in a dynamic and fast-paced
environment.
• Extensive problem-solving skills for
debugging TSM, operating systems, and network
issues.
• Experience with business continuity
technologies & practices, including high-availability,
clustering, and data vaulting solutions.
• Experience providing services with a
data center outsourcer, MSP or web hosting business.
• Shell and/or PERL scripting knowledge
desirable.
• Understanding of HP/UNIX, Solaris, Windows,
Linux, and TCP/IP.
• Understanding of data center infrastructure
technologies.
• Understanding of midrange and storage
technologies.
• Understanding of network technologies.
• Understanding of SQL server administration.
• Understanding of MS Exchange server
administration
• Understanding of Oracle database administration
• Understanding of Tivoli tools, debugging
packages, and monitors.
• Self-motivated and flexible to accommodate
possible changes in business strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management
skills.
• Team player, can lead or follow as necessary.
• Ability to participate in off-hours
and weekend support
