C++ Python Software Engineer - Back Office

This individual will be part of a small back office development
group and be responsible for all aspects of development
and maintenance of various back office applications. The
back office suite consists of data stored in a Sybase database,
Python, Perl, and C++ apps to parse raw input data from
multiple sources and Perl and Python apps to generate various
reports for both management and traders, such as trade reconciliations,
position reports, P&L reports, compliance reports, etc.
Responsible for all aspects of development including: researching
projects, writing/testing/debugging the code, deploying
the app to the production environment, ensuring that code
is checked in to a source code control system, and that
any accompanying documentation is written. Microsoft Excel
is used very heavily, so the right candidate must be fairly
familiar with Excel (no VBA programming required, just user-level
familiarity).
Qualifications:
-Strong knowledge of scripting with either Python or Perl.
-Strong experience using C++ (or Java).
-Any new code written will be in either Python or C++.
-Maintain code for existing applications (Python, Perl,
and C++).
-Strong experience with MS Excel.
-Experience working in MS Windows and Linux environments.
-Experience with databases/SQL required (Sybase or SQL Server
preferred).
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Must be extremely detail oriented.
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
-Must be comfortable working with internal customers (e.g.,
management, traders, DBAs, accounting, clearing).
-Ability to work in a team environment or individually.
-Financial industry experience in Back Office/Accounting
preferred.
