Core Services Software Engineer
$130-$175K
Looking for a strong software engineer with
experience building low latency distributed
systems to join a core services team. The team
is responsible for building some of the shared
back-end systems used by other development teams
within the organization. The primary projects
in the team are a Trade and Position Management
system and a Symbology Service. Core Services
applications are largely C++ with client libraries
in a wider range of languages including Java,
.NET and JSON based web APIs.
Software development cycles are short and releases
of proprietary software are frequent. This is
a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. Software
engineers will quickly see the results of their
work and the impact the work has on the business.
Responsibilities:
-Design and implementation of back-end services
and client libraries.
-Work effectively with other software engineering
teams building next generation services.
-Reduce development cycle time by building effective
and comprehensive testing frameworks for all
team applications.
-Partner with QA and support teams to ensure
that the software delivered is high quality
and easy to manage in a production environment.
-Ongoing performance analysis and tuning.
-Keep up to date on the latest technologies
that could benefit the system.
Qualifications:
-5+ years of software engineering experience.
-Expert skills in C++ on Linux (or UNIX).
-Solid Java SE or .NET experience.
-Experience with distributed low latency systems.
-Experience with Python and Shell scripting.
-Web based development experience is a plus.
-Ability to quickly learn new technologies and
languages as required.
-Strong analytic and design capabilities, ability
to decompose a problem into simpler parts.
-Demonstrated preference for simple, cohesive,
and practical solutions.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-B.S. in Computer Science or related engineering
field.
