Information Technology Manager

Do you live within a few hours of Vernon, BC, Canada? Can work out of a home office with 25% travel.

$90K - $110K

Responsibilities:
-Ensure the streamlined operation of technology in alignment with the business objectives of the organization.
-Plan, coordinate, direct, and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of other IT resources including staff, vendors and consultants.
-Work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
-Define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
-IT Manager will be accountable for maintaining the following key technology functions of the company and will be responsible for recommending and supporting change in these areas: Desktop user support – front-line productivity tools for employees; Network support – all networks, including data and voice; Procurement & licensing –of all technology assets; Reporting & data extraction in response to end user requests - development and support; Application development – project development and management; Business continuity planning for all technology areas of the company; Web site development & support; and Telephony.
-Lead technology operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
-Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
-Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
-Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
-Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
-Keep current with the latest technologies & research appropriate technologies.
-Manage financial aspects of Information Technology, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
-Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
-Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
-Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
-Manage and coordinate activities of employees, vendors and consultants involved with supporting the technology function of the company.

Qualifications:
-University degree and more than 10 years related work experience.
-Courses and certification in management, planning and the integration of IT within business
-Extensive application support experience
-Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
-Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
-Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
-Strong understanding of project management principles.
-Strong leadership skills.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-Excellent interpersonal skills.
-Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
-Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
-Highly self-motivated and directed.
