Hosting Specialist I

Up to $45K CAD
MUST be able to obtain and maintain a Secret
security clearance classification. Required
- Minimum of 2-4 years experience of operating,
configuring, and administering server operating
systems (W2K and Unix/Solaris). Minimum of 1
to 3 years experience in configuring network
routers, switches and firewalls.
Responsibilities:
-Provide Level 2 server software support . This
includes basic support of the Unix/Solaris and
Windows 2K Operating Systems.
-Install server Operating Systems according
to documented procedures and/or customer specific
needs.
-Configure network interface cards per instructions
from network support.
-Coordinate with helpdesk, assist as required
in performing hardware and software related
changes as requested by the customer.
-Assist the with customer server/network monitoring
and connectivity issues.
-Rack and install server and network hardware
for customers.
-Install Backup software client and scheduler
per documented procedures for customers.
-Understand the infrastructure cabling topology
of the data center, run / punch down network
cabling from switches or patch panels to customer
cabinets or suites.
-Provide reporting and feedback to management
through documentation and appropriate daily
turnover reporting.
-Demonstrate an understanding of the data center
electrical infrastructure and distribution systems,
working knowledge of the emergency systems and
security procedures.
Qualifications:
-MCSE, Cisco certification or Sun Solaris Administrator
certification a plus.
-Minimum of 2-4 years experience of operating,
configuring, and administering server operating
systems (W2K and Unix/Solaris).
-Minimum 1 to 3 years experience in configuring
network routers, switches and firewalls.
-Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and other LAN protocols
-Understanding of data center infrastructure
technologies.
-Ability to setup and configure Server Hardware.
-Previous experience in a role involving direct
customer contact (internal and external) highly
preferred.
-Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
or 16 kilos as needed for test set up.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Good organizational skills.
-Must be able to work shift weekend and/or rotational
work as needed.
-Must be self-motivated, team player, and able
to immediately contribute to a fast paced, deadline
intensive environment.
-Must be able to learn quickly in a highly technical
fast paced environment.
-Security Status: Secret, preferred or must
be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security
clearance classification
-Proficiency in Windows based applications,
WORD, EXCEL, VISIO and database experience.
