Past and Present

Next Step Systems was established as an Illinois based company in 1995. Our initial mission was to provide Information Technology employment services for Chicago area firms and candidates.

As Y2K approached, we saw a major expansion of IT departments like never before. Then came the Internet boom. It was an exciting time for the IT industry. We have been there through some of the greatest times the IT industry has seen. Due to the demand of our service, we expanded our vision and grew our services to reach out to many large clients in major cities across the US. We have also seen the decline in IT employment in 2002 and 2003. We experienced a positive trend for hiring new employees for the last half of 2004 and that trend for hiring new technical workers continued in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. 2009 and 2010 were years that brought a lot of transition and restructuring. We feel that 2011 was the start of the jobs recovery for IT Professionals across the country and that trend continued in 2012.

Looking forward, we are now in Q2 of 2013. We feel that technology hiring is making recovering and there is continued optimism about IT hiring in most areas of the country. Our clients are interviewing and hiring. The data on future employment trends we have seen suggests 2013 should be a good year for IT professionals looking for a new job.
